Officers responded to La Brea Avenue and Queen Street about 5:30 a.m. Nov. 25, the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, according to a news release issued by the Inglewood Police Department on Monday afternoon.

The adult victim and the girl were discovered lying in the street; they were hospitalized for moderate-to-severe injuries, the release stated.

A witness reported the victims were walking in a marked crosswalk when a vehicle traveling southbound on La Brea ran a red light and struck them.

The car — described as a dark green or black Nissan Altima — initially pulled over but then fled, continuing out of sight southbound on La Brea.

The vehicle was “more than likely” to have front-end damage and possibly a broken windshield, the release stated.

The older victim was walking with her granddaughter when the pair were struck, leaving the woman in a coma, according to a KTLA viewer who said she was the woman’s sister.

Traffic investigators were reviewing surveillance videos to try to find images of the crash.

Anyone with information was asked to contact Inglewood Police Traffic Investigator Jeff LaGreek at 310-412-5134; to make an anonymous tip, call the hotline at 888-412-7463.
